SYNOPSIS
Beauty and the Beast adalah perjalanan fantastis Belle, seorang gadis cerdas, cantik, dan mandiri yang dipenjarakan oleh sesosok binatang buas di kastilnya. Meski takut, ia berteman dengan para staf kastil dan belajar untuk melihat pribadi di balik penampilan Beast yang menakutkan, dan menyadari bahwa hati dan jiwa seorang Pangeran yang baik berada di dalamnya.
Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” is a live-action adaptation of the studio’s animated classic which refashions the classic characters from the tale as old as time for a contemporary audience, staying true to the original music while updating the score with several new songs. “Beauty and the Beast” is the fantastic journey of Belle, a bright, beautiful and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior and realize the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within.

Sejak adegan pembukanya yang menampilkan sekuens musikal yang masif, film ini memang sudah menunjukkan pesona visualnya, meski saya merasa ada sesuatu yang kurang dari adegan ini. Skalanya besar namun filmnya tak begitu engaging. Beauty and and the Beast memang jago dalam menggoda. Lebay jika menyebut aftertaste-nya pahit, tapi memang rasanya sedikit hambar. Rating: ★★★
