SYNOPSIS

In Universal Pictures’ Get Out, a speculative thriller from Blumhouse (producers of The Visit, Insidious series and The Gift) and the mind of Jordan Peele, when a young African-American man visits his white girlfriend’s family estate, he becomes ensnared in a more sinister real reason for the invitation. Now that Chris (Daniel Kaluuya, Sicario) and his girlfriend, Rose (Allison Williams, Girls), have reached the meet-the-parents milestone of dating, she invites him for a weekend getaway upstate with Missy (Catherine Keener, Captain Phillips) and Dean (Bradley Whitford, The Cabin in the Woods). At first, Chris reads the family’s overly accommodating behavior as nervous attempts to deal with their daughter’s interracial relationship, but as the weekend progresses, a series of increasingly disturbing discoveries lead him to a truth that he could have never imagined.

BLOGGERS RATING

ARUL FITTRON (Arul’s Movie Reviews)

Get Out is a fresh air yet very sarcastic to every thriller movie with generic plot, even if the ending was not ground breaking. But, what I love about Get Out is all about how Jordan Peele delivers the story, because the audience doesn’t know what its all about. Get Out was not about thriller, it is a critic for today’s social condition about minority in a fun way and heart pumping! Rating: ★★★★1/2

DANIEL IRAWAN (Daniel Dokter)

Gets a bit clumsy wrapping one crucial element to the whole fresh idea of rich and actual subtexts–rarely in a social thriller, Get Out is still a terrifying piece on how to build perfect suspense in such genre mishmash. Without big names, the perfect cast, too. Rating: ★★★★

ELBERT REYNER (Daily Cinephile)

Menyatukan ide-ide gila dari berbagai horor klasik dan menyuguhkannya dengan brilian, Get Out punya segalanya yang kau harapkan dari film horor. Get Out isn’t groundbreaking. But Jordan Peele knows how to build mysteries and terror with class and wits. That’s what makes it so special. Rating: ★★★★

ERLITA PUTRANTI (It Caught My Eyes)

Flying blind has never been this satisfying. Jordan Peele’s Get Out truly was a wicked thriller, with intertextuality and substance to boot. Rating: ★★★★★

HARY SUSANTO (Movienthusiast)

Misteri yang ditawarkan Get Out mungkin terasa familiar, tapi ia punya teknis dan twist memikat serta atmosfer creepy yang terus menggedor jantungmu. Rating: ★★★★

ODAGOMA RHEINHARD (Kinerasya)

Keseluruhan Get Out adalah ketidaknyamanan. Awkward dan meresahkan dalam konteks yang brilian. Kritik yang sukses membuat bergidik. Rating: ★★★★

PASKALIS DAMAR (Sinekdoks)

Presented as a social satire, a super-satisfying horror and a slick answer to white-man horror, Get Out ventures beyond that. It’s a clever parable of how horror films can “actually” picture up a real life horror without losing the zeitgeist. It is a true cinematic experience and Jordan Peele’s surely a filmmaker to watch. Rating: ★★★★1/2

PRIMA TAUFIK (Layar Tancep)

Walaupun ini merupakan debut Peele sebagai sutradara, Get Out berhasil membawa genre thriller ke arah baru yang mencekam, tapi juga membuat kita tidak bisa berpaling dari layar. Rating: ★★★★

RASYID HARRY (Movfreak)

Get Out bak dibuat berdasarkan semangat segala sesuatu bisa ditertawakan tanpa menghilangkan keseriusan di dalamnya. Selain hibrida horor-komedi, pergerakan misterinya bagai diambil dari obrolan santai penuh canda ketika orang kulit hitam membicarakan perlakuan buruk kulit putih pada mereka. Konteksnya bercanda, namun didasari realita, dipicu rasa jengah pula takut akibat kekejaman berkepanjangan. Get Out sukses menggambarkan itu, menuturkan satir sosial dengan gaya ringan tapi tetap menusuk. Rating: ★★★★

TIMOTIUS PRASSANTO (Sobekan Tiket Bioskop)

One hell of a sick tense thriller made up from a great detailed script and cleverly eerie atmosphere throughout the film. Rating: ★★★★★
